Verso 2021
Ro is intrigued with the reverse of artworks. We often look at the reverse of textiles and artworks to reveal their quality, provenance and process. The process of handmade or machine made can be determined by looking at the backs of textiles. Artworks are identified by the often-mysterious markings verso.
The framed works in this show are sandwiched between glass or perspex, allowing the viewer to see both sides of the textiles. All the works are created by materials at hand, combining techniques and materials honed and collected over a lifetime. Screen printing, block printing, dyeing and stitching are used with organic and architectural motifs.
